Good afternoon Pro-Communicators,

As we prepare for fall 2020 I want to thank you for your support and collaboration on so many projects this past spring and summer. On behalf of University Communications, please know that we truly appreciate your expertise and enjoy working with you. I also want to share with you new assets available to tell the University’s story of opportunity, excellence, and impact.

Shield Our Spartans

Thank you for promoting Shield Our Spartans, our campaign to keep campus safe this fall. From guidebooks to signage, Shield Our Spartans is about: wear, wash, wait, and caring for our community. A pro-comms member asked us for guidance on how the shield should be used and we have put together some very brief guidelines here. Please note you can download the shield and it’s elements on this page. I’d be remiss if I did not mention, please continue to monitor the University’s Covid-19 information via the UNCG Mobile App and website.

Brand Assets

Thanks to many of you and colleagues from across the University for recommending students who embody the opportunity, excellence, and impact of UNCG. We are proud to share with you the 2020-2021 Brand Student Stories. You may have noticed we started rolling out the new student profiles last week on the uncg.edu homepage and encourage you to share these profiles through your channels.

Each college has at least one student profiled this year. There’s a mix of undergraduate and graduate students as well as new alumni profiled. As in prior years, we are not retiring student brand stories so feel free to continue to share assets back to the 2018-2019 student stories– that means there are more than 40 student profiles available.

On the video downloads page of the UC site, you’ll find the accompanying videos – a mix of short form and long form – with the embed YouTube links for your websites. We will continue to add long form videos as we complete them. On the posters and pull up banners page you’ll notice a change. For ease of use, we have expanse banner designs this year, not pull-up or zap banners. You may download the designs and order your own expanse banner, or you may request to borrow UC’s expanse banners for a limited time. To borrow an expanse banner, please contact Natasha Williams. Should you want a pull-up or zap banner design, let us know and we can provide it on a request basis. We are finalizing additional assets including a student athlete and a new brand anthem video. The latter will be added to the UC site after August 10th.

And now the pitch. We’d love to profile more faculty and staff who embody the UNCG brand. Please send your nominations to Denise Sherron.

In case you missed it, earlier this summer we have provided new capitalization regarding race and photography during social distancing.

Thank you for all you do and we look forward to seeing you in-person this fall.

Sincerely,

Kimberly
