Beth began work at UNCG in 1999 and has served as UNCG Magazine's editor since 2002. Before her time at the university, she spent several years working as a journalist at newspapers across the state. The thing she enjoys most about her job is the chance to get to talk to a variety of people and hear their stories.

I sometimes see colors when I hear people's names.

Up in the Jackson Library stacks the view of campus is amazing.

LYDA ADAMS CARPÉN

As director of Creative Services in University Relations, Lyda works on many university publications, but is most proud of her work with the UR team on UNCG Magazine and UNCG Research. Before coming back to work at her alma mater, she art directed and designed prototypes for many consumer and trade magazines.
One thing most people don't know about me?
I once had a personal tour of the Winter Palace by a Russian psychiatrist.

Chris has been photographing UNCG for five years. What keeps him going is being able to work on great alumni stories, some of which have changed him forever. Like Inseparable the story of Cindy Howard '74 and how she came to adopt twin girls from Uganda. Cindy not only adopted them but first arranged for them to receive an operation which separated the conjoined twins.
One thing most people don't know about me?
I'm a hypochondriac, so if I hear about a new disease most likely I have it.
Favorite spot on campus?
I don't really have a favorite spot. The whole campus is great.
The movie I've seen the most times?
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers not by choice

To make money in the World Series of Poker main event

Night all the way I hate morning.

Tom Petty yes, Tom Petty is a category of its own in my book.

MIKE HARRIS

Mike is assistant editor of UNCG Magazine and of UNCG Research Magazine. He is also editor of Campus Weekly, the weekly newsletter for faculty and staff. He contributes some of the writing for all of them. He received his MA at UNCG in English in 1993, and worked as a technical writer and proofreader in advertising till coming aboard in 2006.
One thing most people don't know about me?
I can count 1-10 in Turkish. (I taught one semester at a private school in Tarsus, Turkey, in the early '90s. I think I have some of those stylish, very baggy Turkish pants stored away somewhere.)
Favorite spot on campus?
The new pedestrian bridge over Peabody Park. You have a remarkable view all the way to Curry Building.

Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail
Secret aspiration [ambition]?
To play the banjo, claw-hammer style. I'm going to learn to play, someday. I really am.

DAN NONTE
Dan is assistant director of University Relations. He writes news releases and articles for the magazine. He posts stories to the university web page. He answers questions from the media and helps reporters get in touch with faculty experts. He makes sno-cones at FallFest and drives a golf cart at Reunion. Plus he keeps the campus coffee shop in business.

Lanita writes feature stories for UNCG Magazine and writes rotating stories for the university web site. She also works as the media liaison for more than 20 departments and programs as well as for the Bryan School of Business and Economics and the School of Music.

I sung in two a cappella singing groups during my undergraduate collegiate career.
