Dreamers and doers
By Beth English '07 MALS, UNCG magazine editor

Lately, we've been talking a lot about what it means to Do something bigger altogether. Is it winning a Pulitzer Prize? I think everyone could agree on that. Is it going overseas to build schools for orphans? Of course. But it's also found in small acts of courage. Lives given to serve others. Listening to your heart and jumping out of your comfort zone.

So many of our alumni have done amazing things — served the poor, researched cancer cells, gotten down on a child's eye level to teach, created something new or started a business. And those are just the ones we know about. There are countless more who go about their days doing things they never dreamed they would be doing.

In this issue, we're celebrating those who have gone on to Do something bigger altogether (dsba, for short) or who have made a difference on our campus. While it's not possible to include everyone we think should be on this list, we have a good representation of Spartans. And we'd love to hear from you. Have you gone on to Do something bigger altogether? Do you know someone else we should hear about? Share your story with us by emailing etenglis@uncg.edu or by creating a 10-30 second video and uploading it at UNCG Connect.
