Saheim Jones ’22

Saheim Jones ’22 has just accepted a full-time position with AT&T’s B2B Sales Development Program. And he is excited.

Graduating in May with a business administration major and minor in information technology, his focus has been in business analytics, “basically figuring out what trends and things can help a company grow.”

Coming from the small city of Raeford in southern North Carolina, he already had an associates degree from his studies at an early college program. “I decided to take the leap here at UNCG, in the fall of 2019. And it’s just been a great experience ever since then. I’d thought, ‘I’m going to come in. I already have some collegiate experience. There’s nothing going to be different.’ But UNCG has rocked my world in such an amazing way.”

He has served as a Student Government Association vice president. And through the Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity as well as Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, he has developed his leadership skills and served his fellow students.

“Amazingly, our generation has been through a lot of things.” He noted the 9/11 attacks, social justice movements for marginalized groups – “and then we’re living through this unprecedented pandemic. And yet, we still push on and we’re still growing, we’re still gaining skills. My generation is different. No matter what the boundaries are, the Class of ’22 has gracefully handled it.”

He wanted to add a message to the future Spartans.”If you’re thinking about coming to UNCG, do, do it,” he said. “There are different student organizations out there that are going to support you, and there are different avenues and resources that UNCG offers, so that you can grow.”
