MLK Celebration and Related Events

012010NewsAndNotes_MLKUNCG’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, in EUC Auditorium. Free tickets are available at the UNCG Box Office. Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color to travel in space, will be the keynote speaker.

The week features several other related events:

Empty Bowls, a UNCG community social justice project. Painting of the bowls will begin Monday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. in EUC Commons, and continue throughout the week. More information at http://maf.dept.uncg.edu/MLK/.

Food for Thought discussion: “Martin Luther King, Jr.” Wednesday, Jan. 27, noon, noon, Faculty Center. Join faculty, staff and students for lunch and conversation. Dr. Thomas Jackson (History) will lead a discussion about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Second annual Interfaith Prayer Breakfast. Thursday, Jan. 28, 9 a.m., in the Associated Cultural Ministries Center. RSVP to mavillac@uncg.edu by Jan. 22.
