Art in the MRC

012710EyeOnArts_ExhibitAttend an art reception featuring the work of Jonathan Cobbs, Maurice Moore and Christian Ryan. The reception, where the students be talking about their work, will be Wednesday, Feb. 3, 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. in the Multicultural Resource Center, EUC.

The exhibition, “Personal Identity, Common Culture,” is a collection of artwork by current MFA students.  Even as contemporary culture has become increasingly open to thinking about questions of racial and sexual identity, the dialogue is still often framed in stark dualistic terms – straight or gay, black or white, male or female. Artists are often the first to explore the gray and undefined areas of societies, and the three young artists in this exhibit use a variety of media and approaches to question both the larger social construct of identity and their own places within that discussion.

This exhibition is on display in the Multicultural Resource Center through Feb. 26.
