Catch the Rhythm at Weatherspoon’s Community Day

040710EyeOnArts_HealingForceThe Weatherspoon Art Museum will present its Catch the Rhythm: Spring Community Day on Saturday, April 10, 1-4 p.m. Enjoy a variety of art activities, refreshments and live performances. Young dancers from the “We Are One Cultural Arts Project” will perform a short concept movement piece inspired by the works of Leonardo Drew, and visitors young and old can join in a musical performance by “The Healing Force,” celebrating African culture, spirit and creativity.

Public programming for “Existed: Leonardo Drew” is supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

A schedule for the day’s events:
• 2 p.m., Dancers from the We Are One Cultural Arts Project
• 3 p.m., The Healing Force performs “The Rhythm of the Drum”
• 1-4 p.m., Art making activities inside
• 1-4 p.m., Gallery activities for all ages

This Community Day will draw inspiration from the exhibition “Existed: Leonardo Drew,” on view until May 9.
