UNCG Named a Bicycle Friendly University

031611NewsAndNotes_BikesThe first-ever Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) designations were recently announced at the National Bike Summit in Washington, DC. Among the 20 universities honored by the League of American Bicyclists, UNCG was the only campus in North Carolina and one of only four from the eastern United States.

The BFU program recognizes colleges and universities that create exceptional environments where bicycling can thrive and provides a roadmap and technical assistance to create great campuses for bicycling.

UNCG was named a Bronze Winner as a Bicycle Friendly University. Other universities receiving a Bronze award are University of Maryland, Cornell, Emory, Boise State, Indiana, Michigan State and UCLA.

“Our award was possible with the collaboration of Campus Access Management, Facilities, Public Safety & Police, Housing & Residence Life, and faculty, staff and students outside of these departments,” said Reade Taylor, vice chancellor for business affairs. More information is here.
