033011CampusPeople_PatrickFred Patrick (Design and Construction) received the Frank B. Turner Award at the annual State Construction Conference in Raleigh. A News and Record report notes that the annual award recognizes a state government employee for dedicated public service and outstanding professional contributions to the built environment.

033011CampusPeople_HuttDr. Claudia Cabello Hutt (Romance Languages) has been awarded a Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA) Summer Fellowship. She requested the funding to undertake archival research at The Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection at the University of Texas at Austin in order to complete her first book manuscript, “Gabriela Mistral: Artisan of Herself.” She will work on two collections that contain unpublished letters to and from Mistral and important intellectuals and writers of her time.

On Tuesday, April 5, there will be a celebration in honor of the 2010-11 School of Education retirees. The retirees include Alex Epanchin, Betty Epanchin, Marilyn Friend, Judith Niemeyer and J. David Smith. The celebration will be from 4-6 p.m. at the Weatherspoon Art Museum and all are welcome to attend. For information, contact Annie Smith at 4-4418.
