Enjoy a Day at the Lake

033011NewsAndNotes_PineyLakeUNCG faculty, staff and students are invited to bring your friends and family to enjoy a day at Piney Lake on Saturday, April 9, 1:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Participate in activities such as canoeing, kayaking, disc golf, volleyball, horseshoes, bocce ball and board games. Free hamburgers, hot dogs, lemonade and more will be available. Register online for this free event.

Parking is available at Piney Lake. A shuttle will also be running regularly, departing from Stirling Street in front of Elliott University Center. The first shuttle will leave UNCG at 1 p.m. and the last shuttle will arrive at UNCG around 6:30 p.m., according to Lisa McGuire, assistant director for adult, transfer and commuter programs.

Piney Lake is approximately eight miles from the UNCG campus. Located on 40 acres of park-like grounds, Piney Lake offers a location for recreation activities or just relaxing. Read more about Piney Lake.

Directions to Piney Lake from UNCG (map available for download):

  • Take W. Lee Street for 1.3 miles to S. Elm/Eugene. Turn right.
  • Take S. Elm Eugene Street for 3.5 miles to Vandalia Road. Turn left.
  • Continue on Vandalia Road for 1 mile to the stoplight at Pleasant Garden Road. Turn right.
  • Take Pleasant Garden Road for approximately 1 mile to Blumenthal Road. Turn left.
  • Piney Lake will be approximately 1 mile on your left at 4016 Blumenthal Road.

This program will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. If necessary, a decision to cancel will be made the morning of Friday, April 8, and registered participants will be contacted via email.
