UNCG Campus Weekly

Campus Weekly is published each Wednesday when classes are in session. In the summer, it is published biweekly.

CW redesign coming this fall

A small group in University Relations is working to revamp Campus Weekly.

Since CW went to its current format 1 1/2 years ago, we have heard many comments. All have been very helpful. We have looked at Google Analytics. We have carefully considered the 564 responses in the readership survey – and the many comments and suggestions we received as part of that survey. These have been top-of-mind as we’ve worked to create the next iteration of Campus Weekly.

  • The weekly CW email message will be enhanced.
  • The CW web site will be redesigned to provide for a better overall experience for readers. A goal is that none of the stories will be hidden, in contrast to the layout of the current Campus Weekly, in which many stories are not visible on the main page. At a glance, you will be able to see what is in CW. (For the majority of stories, you will see the headline/excerpt and often a picture. Very short pieces will have simply a descriptive header.)
  • Campus Weekly will leverage and include links to UNCG’s newly revised University News site (and vice versa). The writers for that site are Dan Nonte, Michelle Hines and Lanita Withers Goins, with additional postings by Beth English and Mike Harris. If you haven’t seen that site, with news pieces geared toward a general audience, you’re invited to check it out.
  • The CW Print version will look much better than the current “Print This Issue” version.

The number of unique visitors per issue for CW has risen over the past year and a half, as we have made small adjustments. For example, over the first 15 issues of 2010, Google Analytics shows an average of 979 unique visitors per issue. Over the same 15 issue span this year, it shows an average of 1,260 unique visitors per issue.

Our goal is to provide a news resource for faculty/staff that is user-friendly and well-read, while being efficient with university resources. CW will continue to help foster a sense of community among faculty and staff, while providing news that will help you stay informed.
