Around the House, this spring

The Around the House series at Alumni House resumed this week, as Mike Byers, associate vice chancellor for campus enterprises, discussed the UNCG/Glenwood Mixed-Use Village.

Additional Around the House events for Spring 2012 are:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 7: Dr. David L. Wyrick, associate professor of public health education, School of Health and Human Sciences, “My Playbook: Prevention Strategies for Drug and Alcohol Abuse”
  • Tuesday, Feb. 21: Dr. Joyendu “Joy” Bhadury, associate dean of research and graduate programs and professor of information systems and operations management, “NC Wine Industry: The Business Side of Things”
  • Tuesday, Feb. 28: Dr. Karen Wixson, dean, School of Education, “Current Issues in Education: Common Core Standards in Language Arts.”
  • Tuesday, March 13: Dr. Celia Hooper, professor and dean, School of Health and Human Sciences, “The New School of Health and Human Sciences: Nine Disciplines Changing Together”
  • Tuesday, March 20: Dr. Rick Bunch, associate professor and director of the Center for Geographic Information Science, “Using Geographic Information Systems to Address Real World Problems”

The “Around the House,” events start at 6 p.m. Each will start with a wine and cheese reception in the Virginia Dare Room in the Alumni House followed by a small presentation from the featured speaker. Afterward, the speaker will mingle so that attendees can ask follow-up questions or discuss the topic more thoroughly.
