UNCG Campus Weekly

Campus Weekly is published each Wednesday when classes are in session. In the summer, it is published biweekly.

First Staff Stars of 2012

This time, the Staff Stars Reception was moved to the Alumni House’s Virginia Dare Room.

“It got too big,” said Betty Betts, chair of the Staff Senate’s Staff Recognition Committee. “We have more nominees this time.”

Twenty, to be exact, added Cynthia Louis, also a member of the committee.

Seven tables were filled with honorees and guests, while about 15 individuals stood behind them.

In introductory remarks, Chancellor Linda P. Brady said, “Each one of you makes a real difference in the life of this campus.”

She spoke of staff members having to do more with less, during these tough economic times.

“You go out of your way, every day,” she said.

She noted the effort and the hours she sees staff members put in. “And the attitude that you bring to your roles shows.”

Families of prospective students typically mention to her how helpful people are at UNCG, as well as how beautiful the campus looks.

Staff members make a significant impact in attracting and retaining students and helping them reach their goals.

With each nominee, she spoke of their department and what it does for our university – from Parking Operations to Housekeeping, from Financial Aid to Registrar’s Office, from the Department of Philosophy to the School of Education.

She presented the award to each Staff Star:
Robert Reid
Rick Dunning
Erik Laudenbacher
Maggie Dargatz
Setenna Tanksley
Lennie Alexander
Jay McCloy
Janet Elmore
Lee Canada
Richard Bailey
Babbette Mabe
Lane Ridenhour
Rose Smith-Marsh
Wanda Torain
Tim Wilkins
John Lucas
Bruce Cabiness
Yvonne Lindsay
Bob Snyder
Brian Hinkle

“I want to congratulate all of you,” the chancellor said.
