Make that 4 for 4

They grabbed two conference victories on the road, at College of Charleston and The Citadel. How would they fare at the start of their five-game homestand?

The Spartan men’s team took two more over the past week. Junior Derrell Armstrong came off the bench to score 29 and lead the team to a win over Chattanooga. On Sunday against Samford, he again led the scoring – but David Williams’ rebound and stick-in with 3 seconds left to give the team a 61-60 victory was the play everyone will remember. (Though there were some impressive dunks in the first half – the highlights can be viewed here.)

Now they face three more SoCon opponents as part of this homestand:
Appalachian State – Thursday, Jan. 26 – 7 p.m..
Western Carolina – Saturday, Jan. 28 – 2 p.m.
The Citadel – Thursday, Feb. 2 – 7 p.m.

The team is currently tied with Appalachian State for second place in the North division of the SoCon, at 4 wins, 4 losses. Elon leads the division with 4 wins, 3 losses. Davidson leads the South division at 8 wins, 0 losses.

The Thursday, Jan. 26, game against Appalachian State will be a “Gold Out.” Fans are encouraged to wear all gold for this game. It’s also a “Pack the House” game, as the university hopes for the biggest crowd of the year so far.

You may purchase tickets for the men’s games (including more home games later in the season) at www.uncgspartans.com or by calling 334-3250. If you don’t have a gold shirt, consider ordering a special “Gold Out” one at http://shop.uncgspartans.com/COLLEGE_UNCG_Spartans/browse/FeaturedProduct/800991
