Quad Rededication this Saturday

At 12:30 p.m. on Homecoming Saturday, the Quad will be officially rededicated. All are invited to attend.

The celebration and ribbon cutting, part of Homecoming 2012, will be Saturday, Nov. 3, 12:30 p.m. It will be held inside the Gateway entrance to the Quad, at Shaw Residence Hall.

Self-guided tours of the Quad will be immediately afterward until 3 p.m.

The historic Quad – Bailey, Coit, Cotten, Gray, Hinshaw, Jamison and Shaw residence halls – was created in the early 1920s. The halls were designed by noted architect Harry Barton, who also designed several other buildings on campus including Aycock Auditorium and Brown Building.

Many alumni have named spaces in the Quad after people who made an impact on their lives there, as a recent Alumni & Friends e-newsletter explained.

Information about the renovation, with pictures, is at studentaffairs.uncg.edu/quad.
