‘Roll Call’ on Veterans Day outside EUC

Veterans Day will be marked by UNCG Monday, Nov. 12. UNCG will once again be one of more than 180 colleges and universities nationwide participating in the National Roll Call 2012: Remembering Those Who Gave All, by reading of the names of those who have died in U.S. military service in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001.

The day will begin with a presentation of colors at 6 a.m. and the start of the roll call on the Elliott University Center West Lawn. At 2 p.m. UNCG will join other participants across the country with a national minute of silence, followed by a Remembrance Day ceremony. 2012 National Roll Call If you would like to be part of this event, visit the link below to sign-up to be a reader. Students, faculty, staff, family members and community members are needed to read names.

Each reader will be given a 15-minute time slot beginning at 6 a.m. and ending around 2 p.m. A “minute of silence” will be observed at 2 p.m. A closing ceremony will follow the “minute of silence” and conclude at approximately 3 p.m.

Readers should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their designated time to review their list of names.

The Roll Call event will take place on the EUC West Lawn.
