As the University prepares for the upcoming academic year, University Communications will capture new visual images of students, faculty, and staff safely. Cognizant of social distancing and the University’s mandate regarding face coverings due to Covid-19, University Communications procedures and visual products are and will be different as compared to past years. University Communications is committed to executing still photography safely and effectively and has implemented the following:
For portraits taken by University Communications, which are often associated with news or announcements, the photograph will be captured using a moderate telephoto lens, whether taken in the studio or outdoors, in order to maintain social distance. University Communications’ photographer will wear a face covering and follow social distancing guidelines. The subject is not required to wear a face covering for the photo and shall consent to this prior to sitting for the portrait. Only the subject of the portrait will appear in the photograph.
Studio headshots for faculty, staff, and students continue to be conducted by the University contractor, Micciche Corporate Photography. Questions regarding safety procedures should be directed to Micciche Corporate Photography at the time of scheduling.
University Communications requires subjects to wear face coverings for indoor and outdoor activity photography. An example of an activity photography includes but are not limited to classrooms, research, conferences, awards ceremonies, special events, service learning, etc. The number of individuals in a single photograph shall not exceed current North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services event/gathering standards. University Communications’ photographer will wear a face covering at all times.
University Communications requires any group photography, i.e. a student cohort photograph, to be conducted outdoors and each individual is required to wear a face covering. The requestor for the photography service is required to notify the participants of these requirements and communicate that individuals may opt-out of participation. The number of individuals in a single photograph shall not exceed current North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services standards. University Communications’ photographer will wear a face covering and keep social distance between subjects.
